Eternal Cornerstone

A discussion on cornerstone arose during one of our cell group meetings and we were discussing why is the cornerstone of importance.

As some of us might know every building needs a good foundation which is why the cornerstone has to be straight and square. For that, the whole building will be straight otherwise a leaning building will not endure.  Free Dictionary defines it:
 cor·ner·stone also corner stone  (kôrnr-stn)n.
a. A stone at the corner of a building uniting two intersecting walls; a quoin.
b. Such a stone, often inscribed, laid at a ceremony marking the origin of a building.
Likewise, Jesus is the perfect cornerstone where spiritual house of God is built. And we are the stones that needs to align with the Cornerstone to have a strong foundation. When we get out of alignment, we need to measure against Jesus our Cornerstone to make sure we are right back on the correct spot. Many times we choose our own way and that causes an unstable house to rock instead of being firm.

1 Peter 2:6 (NIV)

6 For in Scripture it says:
“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
   a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”[a]

Let us choose to establish our lives in His precepts and experience a deeper level of faith in Him.
